We were full value for win - Loughmore boss Kelly

Despite the miserably winterish conditions in FBD Semple Stadium on Sunday, Loughmore/Castleiney manager Eamon Kelly was beaming after seeing his charges claim their spot in the county senior hurling final against Toomevara on Sunday week.

In his first year at the helm, he has steered his men back into the county final and is looking forward to the clash with Toomevara.

“I’m delighted with the outcome,” Kelly began.

“The lads were full value for their win. They worked very hard all through and our subs did their bit when they came on also.”

He said there was concern when Thurles Sarsfields got their goals in the first half into the win.

“It was a very difficult day for playing and we gave away the two goals easily,” Kelly added.

“Of course, we were not happy with that, but we sorted ourselves out. The lads stuck to their task and at the end of the day it was the right result.”

Next up for his squad is a county senior football semi-final against Moyle Rovers this week-end and this is not a problem for the manager or the players.

“We’ll be at the football this coming week and then it’s back to hurling the week after. That’s how it is”, Kelly concluded.

Padraic Maher, in his second year as manager of Thurles Sarsfields, was disappointed with his team’s performance.

“Too many of the lads did not play to the form they had been showing in training,” he admitted.

“But they stuck at it, and we were right there with a chance to the finish.

“We were happy enough with things at half-time, but we got drawn into a dog-fight in the second half. We got our chances but did not take them.”
