Ballinaclough's Prof Mary Ryan.

Conference on female health

Professor Mary Ryan from Ballinaclough organised a national conference in the Royal Marine Hotel Dublin last Sunday called ‘Navigating your Hormones’.

It dealt with everything to do with hormones, periods, thyroid, diabetes, polycystic ovary disease, chronic fatigue and of course menopause as World Menopause Day takes place this Friday, October 18.

People travelled all over Ireland to hear the expert speakers:

Gerry Hussey – a psychologist in the importance of mindset and controlling stress

Oonagh O’ Hagan – a pharmacist on gut health and women’s health

Aoife Ni Eochaigh – a pelvic physiotherapist, who spoke on how to prevent incontinence as well as outlined tips on bowel incontinence and bladder incontinence.

Exercise experts Orla Hopkins and Jennifer Earl did some amazing exercise routines and had everyone jumping for joy! Nutritionist Rachael Graham spoke about diet and especially diet in our last 50’years and in particular for menopause.

All were served a healthy lunch and got €50 voucher from Seagreen and one lucky person who has been through a lot got a bumper voucher for Seagreen.

It was a momentous event with the conference room packed to capacity and every single person there walked out empowered and determined to live their life healthily armed with some new education.
