Works to enhance waterside amenities in Dromineer due to start in December

Works to enhance swimming and other water-based activities in the lakeside village of Dromineer, originally due to start last month, will not now commence until December, elected members were informed at the October meeting of the Nenagh Municipal District.

The plan is to develop a new water sports activity centre, works on which will involve the demolition of the existing public WC and shower block building to make way for the new development.

The single-storey 12 x 5 metre centre will provide hot shower, changing and toilet facilities along with secure storage, induction spaces, equipment wash-down and orientation points.

It will cater for the significant increase in people enjoying outdoor water-based activities such as kayaking, paddle-boarding and open water swimming.

In 2021, Dromineer was among 22 locations around the country to be included in a €19 million water-based activities plan. It is expected the works could take around 10 months to complete.
