Senior Football Trials

The Tipperary senior football management will begin preparations for the 2025 season in the coming weeks.

The management team want to explore all avenues to ensure they have the opportunity to look at players that have may have not made the panel in the past.

Manager Philly Ryan and his team will run an inter-divisional round of games over a three to four week period, commencing the weekend of 9th/10th November.

Tipperary GAA are asking all clubs to put forwards players that have not played senior football championship for Tipperary in 2024. An email has been sent to each club secretary in relation to the above and outlines the process to follow for players who may wish to attend the trials.

Athletic Coordinator

Tipperary GAA are to put in place an athletic coordinator to improve the transition of players from academy to adult level.

The proposal was backed at the October county board meeting last week with the role to be a voluntary one.

CEO Murtagh Brennan said the appointment will further enhance the player pathway from under 14 to senior level. He said things were working well up to minor and the fruits have been bearing fruit at inter-county and schools level.

However, there is one deficiency when played leave the minor ranks but aren’t immediately selected on an under 20 panel so miss out on vital strength & conditioning work and can fall behind by the time they do make a subsequent inter-county panels.

The athletic coordinator will provide a programme for these players to work on individually and with their clubs, and their progress will be monitored regularly.

Club Gates Boost

Treasurer Eleanor Lahart reported a good club championship season based on gate receipts with a year on year increase, with an rise also in the purchase of match passes by supporters.

€106,000 was taken in on county hurling finals weekend on 12-13 October but the overall take will be down on last year as there were no replays compared to 2023 when there were second gates taken from replays senior & premier intermediate hurling, and intermediate football.

Sponsorships

Fiserv are to remain as the shirt sponsors of Tipperary GAA for another two years, bringing their involvement up to the end of 2026 to five years.

It was also confirmed that the Coolmore sponsorship of Dr Morris Park and the new Tipperary GAA app will be for three years, but the figure is undisclosed for commercial reasons.
