Lovely water in Borrisokane!
For the first time in their history, the Borrisokane Players participated in this year's All-Ireland One-Act Drama Circuit, under the auspices of the joint committee of the Amateur Drama Council of Ireland and the Drama League of Ireland.
Twenty-three drama groups participated in the confined drama section, across 22 festivals, since the end of October, with just five confined groups qualifying for the All-Ireland Finals in Naas, over the first weekend of December. Cast and crew of the Borrisokane Players participated in five festivals in Kilkenny, Cavan, Cork, Belfast and Dublin, over five weeks. Directed by Tom Hayes, they entered their production of ‘Isn't The Water Lovely Today’ by Irish playwright John McDwyer.
Despite not making the final five, Borrisokane Players can be very proud of their inaugural trip on the drama circuit, placing within the top four across all five of their festivals, best actor and best actress nominations across all festivals and three trophies made their way back to Borrisokane - two awarded to Kevin Ryan for best actor and one to Ciara O'Meara for best supporting actress.
Borrisokane Players are delighted to perform their one-act entry, for one final time in the Clarke Memorial Hall, Borrisokane, this Friday night at 8.30pm. They are delighted to be joined on the night by Shannonside Drama Group from Co Clare, who have made the All-Ireland Finals in Naas, and will perform their entry of ‘A Matter of Life and Death’ on the night.
Entry is first come, first served, so make sure that you are down to the Clarke Hall in Borrisokane early! This is a fabulous night of amateur drama, fresh from the All-Ireland One-Act Circuit, not to be missed!
