Ballymackey remain unbeaten at half-way stage

Ballymackey’s good run of form continued with a 3-0 win at home to Portlaoise AFC in Combined Counties Football League Women’s Division on Sunday.

The pitch in Ballinree survived Friday and Saturdays weather and the surface was in perfect conditions for a game of football.

Ballymackey had lots of possession in the first half and lead at half time courtesy of a Chloe McAuliffe strike from distance. In form goal-scorers Amber DeLewis and Allison McDonnell both grabbed their third goals in as many matches in the second half to push Ballymackey clear.

It was far from an easy afternoon for the home side as a fine young footballing Portlaoise side were competitive throughout the match. Defenders Chloe Whyte and player of the match Chloe McAuliffe were Ballymackey’s stand out performers.

Ballymackey have now reached the half way point of their league campaign, playing all seven opponents, recording six wins and a draw. They have themselves in a good position as the league gets to its business end.

Ballymackey have a free weekend this weekend coming and their next outing will be Sunday, 7th December in the Last 16 of the Leinster Women’s Cup where they will hope to progress further and build on their wins to date against Carlow and Dublin opposition.
