Nenagh Classic Car Club stages final road run of the year this Sunday

The members of the Nenagh Classic Car Club held their AGM on November 8 last and are now set to end the year on a high by staging a special car drive in memory of their former president, Bert Ward, on this Sunday, December 15.

At their AGM, the members discussed and reflected on the many events the club was involved in during the year.

The club, which is one of the most active car clubs in the country, hosted five separate events in 2024, including the very popular Classic Car Easter Egg Hunt, Loughderg100, and of course its annual show in association with the North Tipperary Agricultural Show.

In addition to this, the club attended over 15 other events throughout the country in where they not only displayed their selection of classic and vintage cars but also represented the town of Nenagh, our club flag bearing the crest containing Nenagh Castle which we always display with great pride.

EXPANSION

Since the club was first founded in 2013, it has grown from strength to strength, and its ethos has always remained the same with an open-door policy which allows members to join once they share the same passion for the restoration and preservation of classic and vintage vehicles.

The club is all about promoting our vintage heritage and enjoying these classic and vintage vehicles. The club slogan ‘Driving your Passion’ sums up what we are all about.

CHARITY EVENTS

The club has hosted a number of charity events over the last 11 years and as a result has raised over €40,000 for local charities.

It has always been the club’s aim to host at least one charity event each year. The main charity event, now named Loughderg100, has proven to be a massive hit in the last two years and we hope that next year’s event will continue to attract classic and vintage car owners from all over the country.

The annual Easter Egg Hunt, which is a free event for everyone in the community, has become a highlight of the year as it is much enjoyed by the many participants, most of whom are families who look forward to solving the clues and winning the many Easter eggs up for grabs.

Aside from the shows and the fundraising the club, like many other clubs, provides a social outlet for many people who might otherwise be at home on their own.

The car club has had a positive impact on the community; we are a closely-knit group and there is a great sense of camaraderie among members, highlighting the important role that all clubs and organisations have within our community.

OUR FINAL EVENT

The Nenagh Classic Car Club will host its final event of the year on Sunday, December 15. The ‘Bert Ward End of Season Run’ is a classic car drive in memory of our dear former Club President, Bert Ward, who sadly passed away in 2020.

The club members driving their wonderful cars will depart from the carpark of Stereame Retail Park on the Limerick Road at 1.30pm.

The drive will take approximately one hour, with a stop-off for food along the way.

The club would like to welcome all classic and vintage car owners to take part in what is hoped will be a memorable bow out to 2024.
