‘Late Medieval Helmets in Ireland'
Lorrha & Dorrha Archaeological & Historical Society are delighted to announce their first talk for 2025, which has been rescheduled to Friday, February 7.
Dave Swift will present, ‘Late Medieval Helmets in Ireland c 1400-1600’ at 8pm in The Shed at The Friars Tavern, Lorrha (Eircode: E45 V651). Admission: €5 (cash only), no booking required.
This talk will be of great interest locally as two bascinet helmets found in the River Shannon between counties Tipperary and Galway will be referenced on the night. Dave will have a display of replicas and originals, including some armour on the night. He will also have some copies of his co-written book, ‘Galloglas, From the Western Isles to Ireland’.
This book will be on sale at a special offer of €35 (cash only, retails at €40).
