New support group for parents

National mental health charity Turn2Me is launching a free monthly online support group for parents and caregivers, offering a confidential and welcoming space to share experiences, seek advice, and receive professional support. The first session will take place on Wednesday, February 12, at 7pm, with meetings continuing on the second Wednesday of each month until January 2026. These support groups are run in partnership with the Family Resource Centre.

Raising children is one of life’s most rewarding experiences, but it can also be lonely, overwhelming, and mentally exhausting. Many parents and caregivers struggle with feelings of isolation, stress, and uncertainty. Turn2Me’s virtual support group aims to provide a community where parents can connect, learn, and gain emotional support from those who truly understand their challenges.

A Safe and Confidential Space

Turn2Me’s support groups are designed to be anonymous, accessible, and free of judgment, ensuring parents feel comfortable discussing their experiences. Each session will be led by a fully qualified and accredited therapist, offering professional guidance and insights to help parents navigate their journey.

What the Support Group Offers:

•Safe and Confidential Environment – A secure online space where parents can openly discuss their concerns and receive encouragement from peers.

•Expert Facilitation – Sessions are led by experienced therapists who provide evidence-based strategies for managing stress, building resilience, and supporting children’s development.

•Diverse Topics – Discussions will cover parenting strategies, navigating neurodiversity, managing stress, and mental health challenges, allowing parents to explore a wide range of concerns relevant to their family life.

Why Parents Should Join

“Parenting is an incredible journey, but it also comes with immense pressures,” said Fiona O’Malley, CEO of Turn2Me. “Our support groups are designed to provide parents with a space where they can feel heard, understood, and supported. Many parents struggle in silence, thinking they have to manage everything alone. At Turn2Me, we want to remind them that help is available, and they don’t have to navigate these challenges by themselves.”

“The Family Resource Centre is here to support families,” they said in a statement, “We want to empower parents and caregivers to feel more confident and supported with their parenting journey. The parenting journey doesn’t have to be faced alone, and we are delighted to partner with Turn2me who can facilitate such meaningful, informative and supportive virtual peer groups.”

This support group is open to all parents and caregivers, regardless of age, experience, or family circumstances. Whether you are a first-time parent, a single parent, raising a child with additional needs, or simply looking for a community of support, these sessions are for you.
