Delight as new home found for Nenagh Men’s Shed
It has emerged that there is finally gold at the end of the rainbow for the Nenagh Men's Shed, whose failure to secure a property recently left them with no option but to shut up shop.
Great news for the members of the shed emerged just last Tuesday, thanks to Nenagh Community Training Centre, who have come to their rescue.
“The Management and Board of Nenagh Community Training Centre (CTC) are delighted to announce that we have invited Nenagh Men's Shed to make their new home at our facility. They have accepted,” the centre said in a statement.
Nenagh CTC Manager Rose Nunan commented: “The facility at John's Lane has long been a home to community organisations, large and small.
“With our state-of-the-art facilities in woodwork, art, catering and IT, we are a natural fit for Nenagh Men's Shed.”
CTC Board member Brendan Murphy praised the work of the group. “This is a hugely significant movement in this country. It would have been an unforgivable own goal by our community if Nenagh Men's Shed was forced to abandon its work because of the lack of a suitable home.”
Chairperson of Nenagh CTC, Dr Conor Reidy, remarked: “Our facility has been a haven of education and wellbeing for almost two centuries.
“It continues to serve that purpose today and we are beyond proud to welcome Nenagh Men's Shed as the latest organisation to find shelter under our historic roof.”
News of the men's shed failure to find a permanent home of their own recently made national headlines. But the story now has a happy ending, thanks to training centre personnel.
