Launch of underwater photography exhibition in Nenagh

The Diving Ireland Underwater Photography Exhibition is currently on public display at the Civic Offices in Nenagh until Friday, March 21.

Unveiled at the National Aquatic Centre in Dublin last year, it features a wide and captivating array of marine life pictured around Ireland and abroad.

The exhibition was formally launched at the Civic Offices last Thursday week. Cathaoirleach of Nenagh Municipal District, Cllr Fiona Bonfield welcomed those present and mentioned that the exhibition is a prelude to Diving Ireland Expo, Ireland's annual scuba-diving and associated watersports convention, which this year is being hosted in Nenagh by Lough Derg Sub Aqua Club. Cllr Bonfield also acknowledged the voluntary search & recovery service provided by Lough Derg SAC.

The guest speaker on the evening was award-winning underwater photographer Mark O'Leary of UL Sub Aqua Club. Mark talked about how he got into diving and the art of underwater photography. He shared and spoke about a collection of images he captured of the unique wildlife and dramatic underwater landscapes Ireland has to offer.

Simon O'Duffy of Lough Derg SAC welcomed all to Diving Ireland Expo 2025, which will take place in the Abbey Court Hotel on March 29 and 30, and will attract a lot of visitors to Nenagh and its surrounding area. He thanked Tipperary Co Council, Nenagh Municipal District, for holding the photography exhibition, and also Nenagh Library for displaying the exhibition in January. He also thanked the guest speaker for attending, and Derek Bolton, curator for the Diving Ireland Underwater Photography Exhibition.

A new underwater photography exhibition will be unveiled at the Abbey Court Hotel on March 29-30. The event will also involve a trade show and series of talks that will be of widespread interest.
