Daffodil Day appeal for volunteers
Fundraiser on March 28
The organisers of the Daffodil Day fundraiser in Nenagh have appealed for support as they prepare to take to the streets to raise crucial funds for cancer patients.
The Irish Cancer Society’s Daffodil Day takes place on Friday, March 28. Communities across Ireland including in Nenagh will once again turn daffodil yellow as they take to the streets to raise funds and give hope to cancer patients and their families. This Daffodil Day, Nenagh Daffodil Day organisers are urging locals to stand with cancer patients and survivors and to Go All In Against Cancer.
The society’s flagship fundraiser funds crucial support services for people affected by cancer in Nenagh as well as lifesaving cancer research. Public support is crucial, according to the fundraising committee, which urges locals to get involved.
Averil Power, CEO of the Irish Cancer Society, said: “Every three minutes someone in Ireland hears those three lifechanging words ‘you’ve got cancer’. It’s predicted that one in two of us will hear that news in our lifetime. People of Nenagh have always been generous in their support of Daffodil Day, but with more people being diagnosed with cancer, we need to ramp up our efforts to ensure that everyone affected by cancer in Nenagh gets the help they need. Not only will donations fund vital local services like free counselling and Night Nursing, but also cancer research to help more people survive cancer. Please help us by volunteering support or making on the day.”
