Photo exhibition in arts centre
An exhibition of photographs by people living in Nenagh and surrounding areas will go on show in Nenagh Arts Centre from April 1 to 30.
The event is being curated by the Nenagh Street Collective, a group of mainly local photographers and other visual artists who have come together to share their interest and learn from each other.
The free exhibition will feature a total of 22 photographs that explore the theme a sense of place. The collective delved into the profound connection between place and self, producing evocative photography that transforms familiar spaces into vessels of memory and emotion. Each photograph acts as a doorway into the emotional life of places that often echo with comfort, nostalgia, and belonging that make spaces more than just locations.
These are the places where stories unfold, where histories are made, and where identities are shaped.
Photographers Ian Hassett, Charlotte Strachan and Kevin Lim guided the collective through the process of connecting self-identities with visual imagery, demonstrating what a sense of place at the individual level truly means.
The resulting exhibition is on display in Nenagh Arts Centre from April 1 to 30.
Those interested in meeting the Nenagh Street Collective members or learning more about getting involved with the group are encouraged to attend the exhibition launch night on Thursday, April 10, at 6.30pm in the Nenagh Arts Centre.
The VIP guest for the launch is renowned photographer James Crombie, who was awarded the title of PPAI Irish Press Photographer of the year in 2021, 2022 and most recently in 2025. James is also a published author with his book Murmurations, that captured an audience at a global level.
